Adult Paddlesport Safety - British Canoeing Swimmer Safety and Rescue Course (16 yrs+)
British Canoeing Awarding Body Swimmer Safety and Rescue is a qualification for those wishing develop skills and knowledge to work as part of a water safety team where open water swimming is involved, such as safety cover at an event, supervising swimmers at an aquapark or managed venues that offer open water swimming.
- Award holders must be committed to keeping their skills up to date and well-practiced.
- The Swimmer Safety and Rescue Award is valid for 3 years and can be revalidation either by attending another course or by doing a shorter skills verification with a Swimmer Safety and Rescue Tutor.
- For existing paddlesport instructors/leaders/coaches attendance of the course counts towards 3 yearly requirement of continuous professional development (CPD) points

Pre-requisite:
To get the best from your training course you need to feel comfortable in or on your craft and be able to efficiently paddle on sheltered water. Therefore, we recommend holding of the Personal Performance Awards such as SUP Sheltered Water, Sea Kayak, Touring or Canoe Award OR be confident of paddling to equivalent skill, before booking on your course.
Course cost includes the certification fee for Swimmer Safety and Rescue certification.
This course may be a useful step prior to becoming a Paddlesport Instructor / Leader or for existing instructors wishing to work with Open Water Swimming or Aquaparks and needs a Swimmer Safety qualification.

- Participation from a chosen paddle craft for skills/rescues
- Participation as a swimmer to develop understanding of the swimmer’s experience
